Identifying the language of a conversation from audio (sounds like Portuguese?)

Hi,
I wonder if someone could identify the language of this conversation?
To me it sounds like Portuguese (or some dialect)

That's a terrible recording, both noisy and low quality with echoes. So it's hard to hear it.

I don't understand any Portuguese in it (and my Portuguese is good enough that I should pick up a few words at least, though not fluent).

From 1:22-1:30 it sounds a lot like French.

There are also other parts that don't sound like French.

My best guess is that this is a recording of African French plus an African language. But I might be entirely wrong given the low quality recording.

Do you have a better quality recording? Either a less compressed MP3 or another format like WAV? It doesn't need to be the whole length of the conversation, but this is very hard to hear.

Unfortunately this is the quality of the source audio so I can only post-process it.

Not sure. There may be some phrases of French in there, but it's not all French. My French is limited (I know the other Romance languages better), but it doesn't sound clearly like French to me. (And less Portuguese). It might just be the distortion in the audio. It doesn't sound that different from Arabic, but I don't recognize any phrases either (so it might be a particular dialect I'm not familiar with).

I can't even narrow it down. If I had to guess I'd still say something African (northern?), but that may be way off.

Actually it's a recording of annoying neighbours. Their chatter and partying was so loud that I could easily record it with a handheld voice recorder in my apartment (hence the low quality and the room echo). They have rent the apartment for a few days and then left (I actually didn't meet them). The apartment owner can't be reached (of course), so the next best thing I thought to try to identify the language, as something to start on.
As I'm not an expert on languages, I initially thought it was Spanish but a speaker told it wasn't and suggested Portuguese.

Hm, well, I don't see how knowing the language will be much help. But I am curious to know what language it is, so if you find out post back. There are just so many possibilities it's hard to guess unless someone happens to be familiar with it. A good guess might be based on what languages are often spoken in your community, but there's no reason it has to be one of the most common.

True, the language is of secondary importance here but it sounds exotic where I live. Nevertheless the noise from that apartment is of concern for more neighbors.
I thought it's a somewhat easily identifiable language but if it's not it just adds to the concerns.
