Book Written in AmE IPA?
« on: July 10, 2016, 06:33:01 PM »
Hello,

Does anyone know of someone who writes in the American English IPA for fun? Are there any fiction novels either written or transcribed in the AmE IPA? I'd really like to read some.

Thanks!

That's a very interesting idea. I'm not aware of any, but it would be fun to see.

The closest thing I can think of (not really what you're after) would be the transcribed texts here which are from around the world:

Many (but not all) recordings are fully transcribed in IPA and some of them vary in content. A list of some (all?) of the ones with transcriptions is here:

You can read what the speakers say about themselves in IPA (and scroll down to see the orthographic transcription). At least a bit of practice that way.
