Title: Internet Sacred Text Archives
Post by: mallu on December 02, 2014, 09:49:55 PM
I would like to know how you people rate the reliabilty (if you ever happened to visit the site) of the site INTERNET SACRED TEXT ARCHIVES http://www.sacred-texts.com/faq.htm. The site owner ,John B. Hare, claims to be a linguist . Is he a well known linguist in the US? Thanks in advance

I haven't heard of this, but it looks like most of the pages there have references to the original material so you could confirm anything important. It's more of an index than an original claim of any kind, so there's less burden of proof on that as well. I wouldn't cite that as a source for anything (unless there's a reason to), but it looks like a useful tool online for finding texts.

From what I've seen from using their English translations, at least the Norse Eddic texts are accurate.
