Bibliography of Syntax
« on: May 21, 2014, 11:46:06 PM »
Is there any place in the web where  I can find an inclusive list of  research papers/books published in Linguistics. My areas of interest are Malayalam Language, Dravidian Languages,Comparative Syntax,Generative Syntax,-etc.
Hope someone would come out to help me

Your best bet is to find something like 5-10 papers you're interested in and no doubt each of them have references to the popular and influential work, and all those papers have references, then it will all spiral out of control and you'll have a list of so much information, it'll annoy you that you don't have the physical time to read it all. That's what happens with me, anyway.

There are many thousands of publications that might be relevant to you, so a comprehensive "list" wouldn't be much help. Resources like Google Scholar and your university's library search tools (including various databases) can be helpful for locating articles, though. What lx said works best-- find several sources you like, then look through the bibliographies.

Beyond that, I'd like to ask why you want to do this-- do you want to know about a particular theory (you'll need to pick one from the many that exist) or do you want to see previous analyses of Dravidian? In general, you won't find a huge amount of overlap between the two, but you can connect those lines of research if you'd like.

I need to prepare a bibliography for Comparative Syntax of English and Malayalam, that is my research area.
This must obviously include
Works related to
i)Malayalam Language
ii)Malayalam Syntax
iii) English Syntax
iv)Comparative study of English&Malayalam
v) Generative Syntax

I started preparing a list with papers and books related to Generative Syntax . I got a list of more than 1000 titles. But there are only few titles on Dravidian Languges and its still less in the case of Malayalam. So I would like to know is there a comprehensive list of the  Language(Malayalam) related titles somewhere in the web.

Not that I know of. Most of the time the best way is to look at one good source and follow the citations from there. Note google scholar allows looking up what publications cite an article as well.
