Please identify and translate. Help Needed.
« on: December 22, 2017, 01:26:29 PM »
 Hi,
I have one or two pots, which I believe came from an auction. Could someone please identify the language and translate the script as shown in the picture provided.
   Thank you so much.

Looks like Thai to me although I can't translate it for you. Thai runs words together without spaces-- sort of like Chinese or Japanese, but it is spelled with sounds like the English alphabet-- so Google Translate etc. don't do so well with it always but you could try (if you work out how to type it: or Optical Character Recognition software-- scan to text-- could probably help with that but you'd need a flatter image for it to work well). So your best bet will be to ask a Thai speaker.

It's also possible it's another nearby language that shares the same script. I believe Cambodian and Lao also use it or similar scripts. You could probably work out which language just by trial and error on Google Translate by seeing which works best. (But again you'd need some text for that. Unless you can guess a word and reverse translate it, e.g. if one line says "name" or something.)

 Hi Daniel,
Thank you for your much needed help. I, previously had looked at scripts and had wondered Lao?
The photo imaging does not prove fruitful. So I am still, on the hunt for a speaker. One maybe a few miles from me. Tracking them down  :)
Once again thank you, my friend. Great site. Keep up the good work.
 With best regards Stuart.
