Idea for a TV show

Could linguistics have a tv show? Or science in general? Well, maybe!

I was just pondering that question and came up with an idea. If you've ever seen Shark Tank or Dragons' Den (and other similar shows) you'll know what I'm talking about.

It would be called: Peer Review.

Basically it would be like a conference with presentations but with a panel of peer reviewers to accept or animatedly reject the theory. Maybe a 10 minute presentation followed by short Q&A. Then a verdict.

It would probably not just be linguistics but broader fields.


I'd watch that.
Of course the general public wouldn't get it and it would be pulled from the air immediately

The panel could be editors from different big-name journals

Or, it could be a bunch of researchers pitching their idea in order to get funding, and the panel could be funding bodies!

Ah. Funding! Yes, haha. That would be great. Of course the data would be limited so it would be harder to judge the quality of the work. But I like the concept.
