This is a fun game where you are presented with an audio clip and must identify the language. It may be just slightly addicting!

Wooooahhhh that sounds fun! I won't click the link as I don't want to get addicted... yet... :)

My high score so far was 1450, but mostly because I can actually identify a significant number of the languages. When I'm guessing it's a lot harder.
(Unfortunately they end up reusing audio clips after a while so I think I'll get better with an unfair practice effect. Still, most of the clips are new.)
The only odd part of the quiz is that the multiple choice answers are completely random. So Chinese vs. Italian, easy. Kannada vs. Malayalam or Maori vs. Samoan or Slovak vs. Slovenian, I have little chance. And the number of possible answers increases as you do better, so it gets fun when there are 6 or 7 to pick from!

Oh dear, this is a lot of fun.
Unfortunately the audio is pretty poor quality in most cases, so it's hard to faithfully pick out phones.
-
It would be a lot harder if you had to write the langauge in a field instead of the multiple choice! Fun though :)

Wow, when it's obvious, it's obvious. But when it's not, it's really difficult (at least for me). I lost all my 3 lives in about 5 goes, then tried again and got to about 7-8 before I lost any life. Does that speak to what I am familiar with or the randomness of the overall difficulty?
-
I think that's just because it's randomized. Sometimes it's very hard.

1200 in the first go, 550 in the second but it already started to repeat to if I do it anymore I'm probably just memorising it ;)
Fun, though!

I had planned to just take a quick glance at the forum before going to sleep. Then I happened to open this topic and try the game... well, who needs sleep anyway? :D
I got 700 points on my first try. I guess the number is relatively small but I'm kind of proud of of it anyway since only two of the sound samples were languages that I really can speak, thus making those answers obvious.

ooooh! this is a lot of fun! 900 points, first attempt!!!! :D
