This is an interesting paper with a new type of sound for me:
Salgado, Slavic & Zhao (2013). The production of aspirated fricatives in Sgaw Karen (http://hdl.handle.net/2142/46519)
The appendices include recordings of minimal pairs with /s/ and /sʰ/. Due to my English categorical perception it's very hard to hear a difference, but with enough effort I think I can detect it. Very interesting!
The arguments in the paper are farther from my experience so I can't really comment on them, but they seem interesting as well.

Interesting! Is there a recording of the sound? I only read the abstract. I think it'd be really difficult for me to discern aspiration of a continuous sound, especially a voiceless fricative! Good post!

Yes, the recordings are the "Appendix" files at the top, below the main article.
