ഇത് മലയാളം ലിപിയിൽ എഴുതിയത് ആണ്- Can you identify the language from the script?Curious to know how well equipped are Linguists in other parts of the world when they have to deal with foreign languages.

Yes, I happen to know that that is, but would recognize (for example) other closely related languages in the area. But as I think the two of us have briefly discussed I've done a bit of work on the language (but rarely with the script).
There's a game that was popular for a while for linguists, called I think the "Great Language Game", with small audio clips and multiple choice answers for what language was being spoken. It would be interesting to set that up in writing as well-- sometimes having to identify Italian vs. French, both in the Latin alphabet, and other times having to know relatively uncommon scripts just used for one language. I wonder if that would be easier or harder than audio. It wouldn't be too hard to make that, either.
